Nanny For Granny
I have spent the last 6 years as a caregiver for my grandma up until her death at home on June 16, 2020. My grandma was 103 when she passed. My grandma had dementia and did not know who I was but I knew who she was.
My responsibilities included bathing, dressing, dispensing medicines, taking her to doctor appointments, scheduling doctor appointments, taking her to church, taking her out to eat and to the hair dresser. I also cooked, cleaned, and did the grocery shopping, but most importantly I just spent time with her. As a family, our goal was to keep her out of a nursing home as long as possible. As her caregiver, I realized there must be other families in similar situations like ours. They would want to keep their loved one at home as long as possible. That is the reason I would like to continue to be a senior caregiver. I would like to help other families keep their loved ones at home as long as possible.
