1106 Regency Lane Carol Stream, IL

I offer full day child care with a preschool curriculum offered on a daily basis at a reasonable price. I have my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, am Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, am the President of the Carol Stream Home Day Care Association and have been in the field over 25 years. I have been certified in First Aid and CPR for over 23 years and have special needs training. I write my own curriculum and work on the social and emotional development of your child as well as the cognitive and motor skills that they will need for kindergarten. I provide parents with a monthly newsletter that explain the children's activities for the previous month and a calendar that tells what we will be working on for the current month. I provide a subscription to Parent magazine for the parents of my children who are enrolled to provide them with educational materials along with other resources. I work from weekly themes that start with the alphabet at the beginning of the year and will cover each letter for one week. I will then work on themes such as community helpers, vegetables, fruits, etc. I work on math skills such as number recognition, sorting, patterning, and simple addition and subtraction. I use redirection and problem solving with the children and want them to use critical thinking and reasoning on a daily basis. I incorporate science into our curriculum through out the year and will grow butterflies from caterpillars and watch the different stages of their development as we cover this theme. I help the children to learn good sanitary and health habits through hand washing and good eating practices. I am a member of the Illinois food program which requires a well balanced and healthy meal plan for the children on a daily basis. Please view my websites which are www.sandyslearninghouse.com and www.sandyshomedaycare.com, email me or call me to view my facility. I look forward to hearing from you.

Christina F says "Sandy's program is fantastic and more than prepares children for kindergarten. She truly treats each child as her own."

I have a Bachelor's in Music. My Master's is in Early Childhood Education with Special Ed approval. Until budget cuts, I taught at an early learning center in West Chicago District #33. I have worked at day care centers and had a licensed family childcare for 10 years. I have re-licensed my home for daycare. Being a mother has taught many life experiences that I use in the daycare. I enjoy being part of a child's learning and development. My activities and program are integrated with music, art, literacy, problem-solving, and outside activities. Pre-readiness skills are incorporated into all activities and I believe each child be given opportunities to take risks. This is when I observe children take steps in their development. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice getting along with others, sharing, cooperating and having empathy for others. Positive guidance, modeling, nurturing, interaction toward others, and an appropriate physical environment are strategies that help children grow. If you are looking for a provider who understands how children learn and is welcome to being a partner with you in your child's early years, please contact me. 09/24/2021: I am currently full so am not accepting any new referrals. Thank you to all who have called and shown an interest in Play to Learn Family Child Care.

Tamara says "Carol has been serving our family for over 3 years, and we love her! The kids are always happy to go there, and the oldest is very sad to have "graduated"...

Nichole K

I've cared for children ages: newborn to 13. In 2007 I helped manage an in-home daycare. Since 2008 to present, I work at a foundation. I've helped manage a unit for up to 16 clients. Here I've learned how to handle crisis situations (medical emergencies, psychiatric emergencies), what to do in an emergency (be it person/weather), multitask and time management. In May 2012, I completed the CNA program at Waubonsee Community College. In July 2012 I passed the IL state exam to become a CNA. Since September 2012 to March 2013, I've provided in-home care for an elderly adult. My duties included: cooking, cleaning, wound-care/first aid, laundry, positioning, ADL and A.M.. care. I have a heart for people. I enjoy helping others when I can. I value compassion and creativity. I place importance on consistency, diligence and credibility in who I am as a person and as a provider of care, not limiting empathy and the ability to handle/complete tasks that are given to me with care and ease.
