I have 2 openings for the 2014-2015 school year. I love working with children and have had previous experience within the education field. I have spent the last 20 years raising my four children, as well as caring for a few others. All children are different in the way they learn and develop. I love working with those differences and finding what works best for each child. I have cared for a highly functioning autistic child, who has faced some learning disabilities in his development. Over time he has learned how to socially interact with others in a positive way. This has led to much growth in his abilities and development. It has been exciting to help guide him through this process. I believe that a positive attitude toward learning begins before children enter into the elementary grades. It is during the pre-K years that they can be greatly influenced in a manner that provides opportunities for learning, as teachers/caregivers model and present the material in a positive, fun, non-threatening environment. These years are the most formative and influential for learning and growth. I would consider it a privilege to be able to help you in this process of development for your child/children. I only watch 2-3 children, because I feel that more individualized attention is the most beneficial to the children in my care. It gives us the freedom for park and library days, as well as fun seasonal activities. We also enjoy crafts, and creative interactive learning activities.
