This fall I am starting a new group at my licensed in home daycare and still have a couple of openings for children around 2 to 3 years. I have been running continually since 2006 and currently have three children enrolled for the fall. These are children whose older siblings I cared for as well. Jump for Joy is a fun and nurturing place where children feel safe, loved and challenged to explore and discover. We create a little community where children feel empowered and connected. My curriculum is play based with themes we explore tailored to the needs and interests of the children. As a former English and ESL teacher I am tuned into language development and have worked with several children who have become bi-lingual here. There are ample pre-literacy experiences--stories, reading, songs and music, pretend play, and constant talk and conversation. We have daily hands on play with water, sand, snow, gravel, mud, paint, markers, creatures and plants, etc. I weave number concepts, new vocabulary and ideas throughout all our activities. The natural world and its changes is a constant theme. There is a large backyard with shade in summer and sun in winter. There is a constant traffic of deer in front of our windows and a small farm in our quiet cul de sac with donkeys, a goat and horse. I strive to use my heart, intuition and experience to understand and respond sensitively to each child's unique and precious being. I am committed to constant self evaluation, ongoing learning and growth, and mindfulness that every interaction with every child is an opportunity and responsibility to give my best. I would welcome your visit. My current parents would welcome a call from you. I can furnish further references on request as well as an information hand-out. My hours are 7:30 to 3:30-4:00.
