Loving, Experienced Caregiver With A Special Passion For Special Needs

I began working with individuals with special needs in the 8th grade with a program at my school. I continued participating in the group throughout my high school years. After graduation, I obtained a job with a school for children having special needs. I worked in a public school for two years as a personal care assistant for a young man with Down syndrome and autism. This care consisted of teaching him his educational assignments each day as well as teaching him how to become more independent in his daily life. Throughout these two years, I held a part-time job on the side. I had two clients with this company to whom I would give at home care one or more times each week. Both of these clients had cerebral palsy. I have had a passion for children for as long as I can remember. My passion for those with special needs has been growing for a long time. I am open to working with most any need and am willing to learn about the individual needs that come with each client. I have experience with age groups from 3 to 80 and have loved each experience. I am more comfortable with children and teenagers than I am with adults, but am willing to consider caring for an adult. When I have a client, I am fully committed to doing whatever I can to assist them and allow them to gain as much independence as possible. I now have a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old of my own. My daughter and I spend time homeschooling each day (preschool material). My husband and I look forward to adding to our family in the not too distant future. I am looking to give care in our home. I have experience balancing the needs of my children with those of the children I am caring for, giving your children as much love and attention as I give to mine. I have found that everyone involved has a great time. My kids love spending time with other children, and I haven't met a child yet that hasn't enjoyed being with them. I love working with children of any age and look forward to finding a new client very soon. I have completed the requirements to become a certified para-educator in the state of Pennsylvania and am currently working toward obtaining a degree in Early Childhood Education. I will provide a copy of my background check upon request. I was formerly certified in first aid, CPR and AED. Unfortunately, those certifications have expired, but I do try to stay informed on utilizing them.

Caring, Energetic Private Tutor

I was a personal care assistant for two years after graduating high school. During this time, I worked closely with a young man with special needs, on a daily basis, teaching him the lessons his teacher had planned. This included learning his ABC's, 123's, and learning to speak. It also included learning daily behaviors such as toileting, grooming, feeding, etc. Since resigning my position as a personal care assistant, I have been a babysitter for a first grader. I have worked with her in the evenings on her homework assignments, and have often gone above and beyond, working with her at home on her reading and math skills. I have taught some sign language to a youth from a church I used to attend. I am skilled in many areas and would be willing to give private lessons for a myriad of things. Whether you just need some extra practice in an area of learning (math, reading, etc.) or if you are a beginner who needs lessons (piano, sign language, etc.), I know how to make learning fun and productive. I graduated valedictorian of my senior class so I am fluent in typical elementary, middle, and high school subjects and have played the piano since I was six, accompanying frequently for my school choir. I have been giving piano lessons from my home for the past year and spend time each day homeschooling my 2-year-old (shapes, colors, letters, numbers, etc.) I am currently working toward obtaining my degree in Early Childhood Education. I was a personal care assistant for two years and have experience teaching individuals with special needs. Bringing my daughter (2) and 6-month-old with me is a must at this time as my husband is often away or working and unable to care for them while I work. This should not be a problem as I have brought my children to many babysitting jobs with me and have them in my home during the piano lessons I give with no additional care-giving help. I look forward to finding my new client soon.
