Part Time
About who needs care: My husband has Alzheimer's. He is able to do some of his care, such as bathing, brushing teeth, etc. I currently work from home, but need to start going into my office at least two mornings a week. He has significant memory loss and sometimes forgets how to fix himself a drink or a meal. He is also unable to use the phone, so when I call to check in on him, he cannot answer the phone or call me if something is wrong. He would be unable to call 911 for help. He has also locked himself out of the house one time. He is also at risk of fall. My idea caregiver would be someone that would just ensure his safety, sit and watch TV with him, and maybe do some light housekeeping. He has no hobbies, so sits and watches TV all day. He's unable to use the remote control to switch channels. I am not sure how he will react to having someone in the home, which is why I thought maybe having someone do some cleaning would be helpful for him to understand why they were in the home as we have had a cleaning service in the past. Basically I am just concerned for his safety.
About the care needs: No specialized skills would be necessary but an understanding of Alzheimer's would probably be beneficial. My husband may get confused as to who the caregiver is or why they are in the home so the ability to deal with that confusion would be helpful.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
