Patient, Friendly And Easy-Going Health Care Provider Available For Part-Time Care
My experience with elderly care started in high school when I volunteered in a long-term care facility on my school holidays. Duties included feeding and ambulating patients, serve tea and coffee, make beds, help with bathing and oral care and to just keep them company. I worked with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patients, bed-ridden patients and paraplegic patients. When I went to college I volunteered at UIHC in Iowa City and I basically did whatever the nurses needed me to do. From distributing mail and flowers to cuddling a baby in the pediatric unit, etc. After I graduated I worked at the same hospital as a nursing assistant and gained experience in emptying ostomy bags, emptying catheter bags, taking vitals, report anything unusual and to encourage patients to walk after surgery. When I reentered school I worked as a part-time in-home care taker for a few months. I only have a year of paid experience but my voluntary experience extends beyond that. I'm also a very fast learner.
