Part-Time - Respite Care, Companion Care Or Dependent Care

Avg response < 1 hrs
I received my Home Health Aide certificate from Comfort Keepers and shortly after that, I was asked to take care of my 98-year-old mother-in-law in my home. She had advanced Alzheimer's, coupled with Sun downer's Syndrome. I was her 24/7 caregiver who encompassed every possible need a person could have. After 11 months, she passed away with her family at her side. I feel my life was enriched for having had the experience of making a difference in her life and allowing her to be cared for in a home setting, with her family around her, rather than in a nursing home. Prior to this, I had taken care of my fiancee for 3 years, who was a disabled veteran who ultimately died of lung cancer. I am a compassionate person with a heart for the sick and elderly who sometimes just need some help to remain in their own homes. Care. com reflects I have worked for one family...... that's the one I was hired directly off this site for. I have worked for others, privately.

Faith was the first caregiver I hired to help with my Mum who has Dementia. I found her on Care.com and within a few days she met us for an interview. She has been an absolute joy, and I am beyond grateful to her! She is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. She knew just how to connect with Mum and find activities that she could still do. We breathed a huge sigh of relief whenever Faith walked in the door! She guided us through Mum becoming incontinent, being combative sometimes and her worsening condition, all with grace and compassion. She has become like family to us. She helped me to hire more caregivers, managed their schedules and also managed Mum's medications. She never missed a shift and covered for others often. She watched Dad closely for burnout. She was involved with the transition when Mum started Hospice and kept the communication going with their staff. I give Faith the highest recommendation, she is outstanding and we were so blessed to find her!
