I have recently returned to the US after teaching in Ghana, Africa for six weeks at a rural school built around an orphanage. Thus, I am very eager to continue working closely with children!
While in Ghana, I absolutely fell in love with teaching. I loved being the head of a classroom and discovering new ways to explain the subject matter in a way that resonated with the mindset of the young children. I was the Math and Citizenship teacher for all of grades 3, 4 and 5. I enjoyed connecting to each student individually as well as seeing their growth as a whole. I loved picking their brains and learning all I can about their perspective of the world. After my trip, I was sold on becoming a teacher in the Bay Area. I am now attentively working to finish my B. A. in Child Development and will continue on to receive my teaching credentials at SJSU. Until then, I have promised to myself to always stay in the field of child development as a career.
I believe that the quality of education and care a person receives in early life is indispensable in bringing out that person's potential, and that all children should have access to quality learning and care. I am a natural born leader for young children, ages 1 month to 12 years and I believe strongly in allowing children to express themselves and supporting them in creating their own way of being.
I am fully qualified for the position with an A. A. in Liberal Arts having obtained over 20 E. C. E. units, as well as, 12 upper division child development units. I have spent the last five years being a full time nanny for an amazing family, they taught me almost everything I needed to know about how children grow. I am currently a substitute teacher for an Early Childhood Center to gain even further experience with young children. Teaching, guiding and caring for children throughout life is my highest priority!
