A bit about what your child's day would look like with us: We start each morning with a nutritious breakfast at the dining table. Typical breakfasts are oatmeal, yogurt with honey, fresh fruit, eggs from our small backyard flock, or avocado toast. Breakfast is followed by an hour of free play outdoors or at the local park. The kids will explore nature, play in the mud kitchen or water table, make stone soup, collect rocks, and experience the world around them. Then before it gets too hot, we come back inside for a story, before settling into our activity for the day. *Monday we do an art or craft project - watercolors, collage, nature rubbings . . . *Tuesday we bake homemade bread for lunch later that day. *Wednesday we make music and throw a dance party. *Thursday we build (it might be forts, Legos, blocks . . . ) *Friday I bring out the dress up box. When possible, these activities will take place on our beautiful, outdoor patio, surrounded by grass, plants, trees, flowers and veggie garden. Outside we have 2 hens in a coop, a cockatiel and koi fish. Inside we have a large playroom stocked with open ended toys, which are rotated out every couple weeks, a bookshelf of kids books, musical instruments, art supplies, and puzzles. We also have a cat, dog and hamster! All are very loving and great with kids! After our activity of the day, we usually have a healthy snack - when possible straight from the garden. Then it's back to free play until lunch. We typically have soup, sandwiches, chicken breast, beans . . . all homemade and all nutritious. A note about food: we do not serve any prepackaged, prepared food, processed cereals, or artificial ingredients. After lunch is story time followed by quiet time. Kids can sleep or play quietly. I provide a quiet time box each day with special, independent activities if the child doesn't want to nap. Quiet time ends by 3pm. We gather around the dining room table to do some activity pages, work on early phonics and math and other light academics. The rest of the day is free play until dinner!
