This trip puts a rod in every guest’s hand and gives you a crack at whatever species catch the scent trail your guide sets up on the bottom. This is an intimate fishing experience with 5 or 6 guests and a guide tucked into a hardtop aluminum cabin cruiser out on the halibut flats. Weather can be unpredictable, but a major advantage of fishing the Inside Passage is that there’s almost always a place we can hide behind an island, sheltering us from weather blowing in from the open sea. At our company, we don’t worry about fuel burn. We want our guides to go where guests have the best chance at the most active fishing. Compared to most half-day charters in Alaska, these trips will carry guests farther into more distant and productive waters. We are family friendly and welcome children on our sunset tours. You are welcome to bring drinks snacks and adult beverages on board (small coolers allowed). We will search for dolphin as we travel and take in the sights on the water. We can do a beach day or a fishing trip on our 6-passenger boat with captain. Please arrive 10 to 16 minutes prior to departure to make it for boarding on the boat. The boat departs from the dock promptly on time.

“Vera Marie” raises the bar for fishing head boats “Party Boats”. She runs two fishing trips per day during the season and 1 trip per day during the off season when available. This tour is done on a privately owned wildlife refuge, so what that means for our guests is that there are no other boats. We also do not allow hunting or fishing on our property. The guests will see the Manchac swamp as it is meant to be seen. The animals see the boats as part of their natural habitat, so they are unafraid to stay out in the open for our guests to see. Our boat captains will teach you about the animals that inhabit our swamp, as well as the way of life of the people that once called this swamp home.

A decade ago Whitney Plantation, circa 1752, opened its doors to the public for the first time in its history as the only plantation museum in Louisiana completely dedicated to the history of slavery.
