I started taking private drum lessons when I was 6 years old. Ms. Lucy (shown in my profile picture) was one of the most influential and important people in my development not only as a drummer but in life as well. I met her at 6, and we’re still friends 29 years later. After Lucy I started lessons with professors at UNT (which in those days was NTSU). My glam band Skin Deep was getting major record deal offers, but it was 1992 when grunge took over. So under guidance of our attorney we didn’t sign any offers, and also all of the theory of lessons became a bit of a bore to me so instead of going to UNT to study music I chose to go to UT instead. I graduated from UT in 1997 with a degree in psychology and decided to move to Los Angeles to follow my dream. My band broke up about a month later, but I formed a new one (Milkweed……on Itunes as River Rouge for legal reasons….and River Rouge morphed into a blue grass band after I left) and got an indy record deal and did lots of regional touring for the next 3 years. Then I moved back to Dallas and joined JackAcid, and that’s when I met Taylor with whom we shared several bills with his band FFTN. Next was Crossing Ellum, which was fronted by Matthew JC (Founder of emmy winning Small Guy Music and “Matthew JC and the All Stars”). I currently play in a heavy rock band named Social Jab, and our CD should be available within the year. I started teaching classmates in 7th grade and continued through high school. I believe music is a phenomenal gift to us all in every facet from listening to learning to creating, and it’s an honor to be able to share my knowledge and experiences to help others learn to appreciate the blessing of music. Timothy's Music Lessons (Guitar)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Carrollton, TX

Years of Experience: 32 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 25 Genres: Rock, Blues, Classical, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Bass Guitar Lessons Overview: Growing up in a small town in New Mexico, Tim had two main interests: music and microbiology. When he wasn't working on his annual science fair projects in a corner of his bedroom, he was practicing clarinet, bassoon, alto clarinet, or whatever instrument happened to grab his attention at the time. It was in 9th grade that he was introduced to bass guitar by his band director and a thirty-plus year love affair began. Armed with his first bass, a 1978 Gibson Grabber (that to this day he regrets ever selling), he formed his first band with some friends called TCT. Tim also started playing tuba at that time, developing into an All-State tubist. After graduating from high school, Tim headed off to New Mexico State University to begin a degree in microbiology. It wasn't long, however, before his inner musician won out and he became a music education major with an emphasis in tuba / low brass; studying under Jim Shearer, William Clark, Ron Thielman, and Ken Singleton. He also continued to perform in various ensembles at NMSU and in venues throughout southern New Mexico and West Texas. Additionally, he had a small private studio of tuba students that frequently reached the All-State level in New Mexico. Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education from New Mexico State University in 1990. Following college, Tim spent 10 years as a high school band director in New Mexico and Texas, during which time he also played in several musical groups and church worship bands. In 2000, he made the transition from the public school to the church, serving as a worship leader / director in both vocational and volunteer roles for the better part of the past 10 years. Tim is currently the bassist and vocalist for local band, The Weekend Project. Tim lives in Carrollton with his wife, three dogs, and a cat. In addition to his passion for music, he enjoys blogging, songwriting, reading, wine tasting, architecture, and interior design. His influences on tuba include Harvey Phillips, Bill Bell, Gene Pokorny, and Michael Lind. His main influences on bass are Gene Simmons, Mark King, Alex Blake, Geddy Lee, Stefan Lessart, and Jimmy Haslip. In addition to his contributions to other artists' musical efforts, Tim is currently working on his first CD project, The Things I Should Have Said, which is scheduled to release in January 2012. Formal Education: Bachelor of Music Education - New Mexico State University (1990) Performing Experience: I've been performing as a music major / professional musician in various jazz, rock, blues, chamber, and worship groups since 1984. I have been performing publicly since 5th grade in my school band program. Experience Teaching: Private tuba studio during college (1986 - 89) Public school band director (1990 - 2000) Church Worship Director / Leader (2000 - 2010)
