My name is Jair but you can call me "Mr J" and I'm super excited to help you learn how to play the drums. I've played drums for about 20 years and have been a teacher for about 3 years now, working with students of all ages; from children to adults. I love teaching and having an impact on student learning. I also know what a huge difference it makes to have a patient, empathetic and compassionate teacher who adapts to your learning style. My musical influences include Rock, Funk, Reggae, Pop, Jazz and I also really enjoy the music of "Travis Barker", "Thomas Lang" and "Chad Smith". I like to describe my teaching style as instructional play. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I put my full heart in my lessons. My approach as a teacher is to find the music students enjoy and get them to play their favorites songs. He has knowledge and passion for music, but also seems to have really listened to my daughter and learned what she likes. Practice with Jair is NOT just about drilling and rudiments, but they have fun, too, and he talks to her also about things like being in a band. She has really, really enjoyed her lessons with Jair: she's shy, but from about the second lesson, she seemed really comfortable with him. Jair was also very flexible about scheduling lessons.
