I have been a student of music for 15 years. My musical influences include Christian/Worship Music and I also enjoy theater, classical, and pop music. My teaching style can best be described as relaxed and tailored to the individual. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe every voice is different and must be approached differently. I think that half the battle is learning your own voice, its limitations, its strengths, and its potential. Once you have an understanding of your own instrument, you can begin to push for growth and challenge yourself to try new things. In my lessons, you can expect to learn vocal basics such as correct breathing, voice placement, tone, and how to build your range. I like to tell my students to spend time experimenting with their own voice outside of lessons, in their room/car or somewhere they feel safe to sound crazy. You have to be willing to sound crazy on your journey to sound amazing. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing students grow and learn about themselves until they feel confident in their ability.. My favorite performance was a live album recording we did at my church last year. My team wrote and recorded 13 original songs for that night and we had a blast recording! My students love that I push them and challenge them to step out of their comfort zones. I primarily teach voice, but I can also teach songwriting.
