License #252641. I base my child care philosophy largely on Heather Shumaker's books and her childhood preschool, the School for Young Children . Ms. Shumaker takes the refreshing approach that being a young child is all about play and any learning a child needs until they reach age seven can be obtained through play. I don't do desks. I don't do lessons. Curriculum is not a concept I believe in beyond giving children the tools they need to learn through play. I don't believe in forced sharing. I teach instead to take long turns. If a child is playing with something, it is theirs until they decide they are finished. This allows children to not be interrupted in their learning experiences and, rather than promote how sharing is not fun and can be painful, teaches respect for others and naturally helps children learn how to be generous. I highly recommend reading both of Ms. Shumaker's books, It's OK Not to Share and It's OK to Go Up the Slide. The House Rule: As long as it's not hurting people, animals, or property, it's OK.
Lexington Park Baptist Church Preschool and Kindergarten is a developmental learning Preschool for three and four year olds and Kindergarten age children. It was established in 1969 and remains one of the most reasonably priced preschools in the county. Our program is a hands-on, lightly structured, experiential learning atmosphere. Children learn basic Christian values and truths, number and letter skills, and social skills, and participate in crafts, and dexterity and coordination-building activities. The Lexington Park Baptist Church Preschool and Kindergarten is a ministry of LPBC and has been established to minister to the needs of young children and their families.

I have been operating a licensed family child care home for over 25 years. This is not just a job to me, it is my passion. I love children and I love working with them and their parents each day. I have a very big backyard playground with lots of room to run and play. Two large wooden swing set structures and playhouses. Indoors, we enjoy music time, learning through play, free play, circle time, story time, and a preschool curriculum for 3-5 year olds. That is not to say that there is no learning activities for younger ones because there is, it is done through games and activities. My prices are very reasonable and competitive for this area. I am in the Carver Elementary School district and I offer before and after school care. I currently have openings for infants and up. Please give me a call to set up an interview and tour of my daycare.H(301)737-5439 or C(240)298-8398.

Hours of operation: 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. There will be no operation on all holidays. Walk-ins are welcome and will be charged by the number of hours. I am a Licensed Family Child Care Provider. My goal is to provide a safe and secure family daycare for every child and a goal that will be tailored to meet each child's needs and capabilities. I will also provide a comfortable environment that will make them feel at home; where a "child-centered approach" will be utilized to enhance learning (provides books in every age & educational toys) as well as socialization. For every meal, I make sure all kids eat together at the same time to encourage conversations about their day. Most importantly, I will treat each child like my own in order to build trust, loyalty and understanding. There is also a detailed contract for every parent/guardian to keep as a guide about my services.

Lindsay L. says "Elizabeth is flexible, caring, and lovely to work with. I'm so glad that my child is in such loving hands everyday. Highly recommend!"
