When I started at Rising Star Family Day Care, I was very very excited. I felt as if I had found the right daycare for baby and our family. Both Anthea and her mother Joan were very welcoming when I met them initially. After our first week of care with this provider, it was obvious that it was just a show.

Baby boy started with them at 12 weeks old. I was accused of holding my baby too much, as if you can hold a newborn baby too much. Anyone with any sense and education knows it is impossible to hold a newborn baby too much. This was on top of being pushed to stopped breastfeeding at home so that baby boy would more easily take a bottle from them. They are supposed to be the professionals. I am paying them an exorbitant amount of money to care for my child. This shouldn't be their first rodeo with a small baby coming from a breastfeeding mother. Of course it was going to be an adjustment period. But I was guilted several times and left from pickups bawling my eyes out on multiple occasions. On one occasion, the mother, Joan told me stop crying while she belittled me!

Additionally, they fed baby boy cereal without first asking my consent. He was 4 months old at the time. The medical standard for starting baby on solids in 6 months. Again, anyone with any recent education would know this. However, I was constantly at odds with Joan because she has been a nurse for 30 years and thought she knew best. She constantly made me feel as if I didn't know anything about children, regardless of the fact I have successfully raised other children before baby boy. This was incredibly frustrating because half the time baby boy would come home with his diaper half off because they couldn't figure out how to properly get it on him. Yes, we cloth diaper. But they never once asked questions or for clarification. I would have been more than happy to help. With cloth diapering, you know how many diapers go with baby to day care and how many you get back. This also showed us that he was not being changed frequently enough.

Now that we have left their daycare, the owner is refusing to provide her EIN to me so I can submit a claim to my dependent care FSA account and get reimbursed though my job for my contributions. She is essentially holding my own money over my head.
