10 mi

Sonbeam Day Care is a not-for-profit childcare program with preschool provided for all children enrolled. The Center was started by Temple Baptist Church twenty years ago to provide care for the many children represented by the employees in the Lloyd Center community. However, many families from outside this area have realized the convenience of our location to the downtown and many other areas serviced by public transportation. The MAX line delivers people to within four short blocks of Sonbeam and we are located within the free square for parents driving to parking near our facility and hopping the free ride into downtown Portland. Sonbeam Day Care is a developmentally-based daycare center. The main floor is separated into learning centers and classrooms by moveable dividers. Learning centers are designed with appropriate materials to stimulate normal development of the child from 2 1/2 years through kindergarten age. Materials are provided for the child to use according to his or her developmental level of skill and complexity. Children are encouraged, through guidance in their play, to explore the various areas and use materials at a level corresponding to each child's developmental stage and age Teachers are aware of developmental ages and stages of the children whom they are guiding, and encourage each child to practice new skills, feel confident about already developed skills, and give suggestions for exploring the next skill to develop.

Nikki B. says "Sonbeam helped me raise my kids. I could have not survived without them. The teachers were kind, creative and felt like family. They taught my kids...

Hello, from East Multnomah County! I'm a young grandma that is retired and looking for a few little people to share my time with. I am looking for a family or two who needs part-time day care services. My days and times are somewhat flexible. We have a house with a large fenced backyard. We do have a very friendly dog, Maggie, she's an Australian Shepherd mix. I am a social worker by training and have worked in a number of positions involving children, advocacy, mentoring, addictions, and abuse. I've worked as a Montessori day care teacher, have run my own day care in the 1990's (when my own child was young), and now I am a proud grandma (or meemaw, as I'm called) to a beautiful granddaughter, who will be two in December. I get to play with her a couple times a week, so I'm hoping to keep my day care kid numbers low enough that I can still get out and about in the car. I love arts and crafts, nature and learning and these are the things I do with my grand-baby. This is a new endeavor for me, so I am a new business; however, I am not new to child care. I don't have too many age restrictions and my schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm able to work with your schedule to a certain extent. I am not currently licensed (I was in the 90's, but I'm sure that's expired by now), but that is on my agenda in the very near future. I look forward to speaking to you to see if I can be a good fit for you and your family. Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile!

Curious Gardeners Preschool's Photo

Curious Gardeners Preschool

7877 SE 65th Ave Portland, OR

6 mi

Curious Gardeners is a food-education-focused, play-based preschool serving children ages 2 through 5 in Portland, Oregon. We are located in Southeast Portland, just south of the Woodstock neighborhood. At Curious Gardeners, we strongly believe that every child has the right to a rich and joyful childhood. We get our hands dirty in the garden, run, climb, create art, cook, sing, dance, laugh, and engage in pretend play together. We believe that children are competent and capable of directing their own learning and are able to choose and create for themselves. Our learning happens through self-directed play with intentionally chosen, open-ended materials that allow children to exercise their natural creativity and imagination. In a world where children s lives have become more and more scheduled, Curious Gardeners aims to offer children a chance to slow down, take deep breaths, and connect with nature. We ensure that our students have plenty of free, unstructured time in which to invent and interact. When we come together for circle time, we reflect on our experiences and discoveries, practice simple forms of yoga and meditation, and share observations about changes in the natural world. At Curious Gardeners, we respect each child as a unique individual and work to form a partnership with each family. We believe that early childhood experiences shape children s ideas about who they are and what they deserve. We want to work with families to empower children to develop a sense of themselves as capable, confident learners and kind, curious, engaged community members.

I am now offering weekday childcare for little ones, 18 months and older, in my home from 8:30 to 5:30. I believe in safety first, followed by love, patience, and kindness. The daily routine gives children plenty of opportunity to have fun and to learn while playing.

I am a single mom of two boys who has opened my own in home daycare with my roommate. I have been working in the childcare field on and off for 19 years, ranging from babysitting jobs, being a nanny, a camp counselor, working at a daycare, having an in home daycare of my own, and being a stay at home mom. Now that both my boys are in school full time I find myself with more time during the day, and missing having kids around. My roommate, who will be helping me run the company, has been helping me with my kids for the past year, doing any babysitting I needed. He grew up in a house with an in home daycare which his mother ran, and he helped with as well. We are looking for 2-4 kiddos to watch during the week at our house. We do have dogs and a cat; so please keep that in mind, of course they all love kids, and have been with us since they were babies. This would not be a good house for someone with allergies however! We plan to have healthy snacks of fruits and veggies and there are gluten free options available. We will spend our days playing, doing art, going for walks, playing at the near by park, resting, and you will get a progress report every day! Good luck in your search, we look forward to hearing from you.

Typically, drop-in daycares cater to children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old, but daycares will vary depending on their facilities and requirements. When reaching out to drop-in daycares in Clackamas, OR, be sure to mention the age of your child or children and confirm they accept children in that range.

While drop-in daycares in Clackamas, OR may require a short registration process and forms to be filled out, it is usually not necessary to make a reservation ahead of time for each visit. This convenience makes drop-in daycare an ideal option for those with unpredictable schedules or when babysitters aren't available due to illness or other unanticipated events. However, drop-in centers may fill up quickly during peak times, so it's always best to call ahead to ensure the needed availability.

When preparing to drop your child off at drop-in daycare near you in Clackamas, OR, it is important to make sure that you are bringing all of the necessary items for a successful and enjoyable experience. Remember to bring any blankets or stuffed animals that may serve as a comfort item -- this may even include pacifiers or sippy cups if necessary.
