At The Learning Center, it is part of our educational mission to provide a foundation for life-long learning. We strive to emphasize this love of learning through a curriculum that focuses on the whole child. It is our goal to provide your children with the best chance of success by getting them ready for kindergarten. School readiness occurs through learning and activities that promote language, pre-reading knowledge, math, social/emotional and physical development. In our preschool classroom, there will be a new theme each week to assist in kindergarten readiness. Each theme will contain a letter of the alphabet, color, number and shape.
Structured learning time will be provided each day. This enables in depth learning related to the theme for that week and goals of school readiness. Children will be asked to spend time at various learning stations, that will consist of various activities including reading, art and learning baskets. Learning baskets describes a set of activity baskets from with children may choose. These baskets include tasks to engage the child and help them gain an understanding for a specific letter, number, color or shape. These activities will include, but are not limited to, pre-reading skills such as writing, matching, and letter identification. Fine motor activities will also be provided such as pouring, scooping, or sorting. During this time, children will also be able to create art projects as well as time for dramatic play all centering around the theme of the week.
Each month, parents will be provided a calendar with that week's theme and activities. The theme will change each week in effort to keep the children interested and having fun while learning.
