Summer Child Care Provider

(3)
***UPDATE: I am returning to my full-time job as a teacher the first part of August, so will not be available for child care during weekdays. Evenings or weekends only. I have been a full-time English teacher in public middle schools for 11 years, but have always enjoyed working with younger children as well. I have been babysitting for friends and neighbors since I was 11 years old. I've watched up to four kids at once, but most of the time it has been one or two at a time. Most recently, I have cared for my 6-year-old nephew and3-year-old niece for several hours at a time (while their parents are gone) a few times a month. During the care of my nephew and niece, and other children, I have been responsible for diaper changes, nap time routines, meal prep, cleaning, outside/inside play, vehicular transport, and bedtime routines. I am also comfortable with laundry, cleaning, pet care, and fun activities with children, including schoolwork, reading, and writing.

Sarah has been babysitting children of various ages since 7th grade: in the church nursery, VBS, friends in the community, and her own niece and nephew since they were born. She has a heart for the children and really wants them to enjoy the time they spend together. Instead of just turning on a screen for the children she watches, they do many activities, play with lots of toys, and use their imaginations! I am her mom, but with anyone's children, she would interact with the same caliber of character.

We are a mother/daughter run in-home childcare center located in Sugarhouse, Utah. We opened our doors September 2nd, 2014 and enroll children from ages six weeks old through school age. We offer transportation to and from certain schools as well! We also offer a preschool program that teaches children number and letter recognition, how to write their names, early reading skills, social skills, and much more! We do fun science experiments, exciting art projects, and lots of outdoor play! We also, of course, take care of all daily needs such as providing meals, diaper changes, potty training, naps, free play, hands-on activities, and much more!

LeeAnn is a loving mother and wife. She has been raising her own kids for over 25 years as a stay-at-home mom! Once her kids were grown, she decided that it was time to enter back into the workforce. She knew so much about caring for kids and loved being around them, so it only seemed natural to enter the field of childcare! She is highly creative and some of her passions include crafting, planning, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Rob, live with their fur baby, Ashley! LeeAnn enjoys rainy days, her favorite shows, being in her craft room, and reading! In the future, she sees herself continuing to create and follow her passions!

Alex has been working professionally in childcare for over seven years. She has always loved being around kids, even when she was still one herself! She started babysitting as soon as she possibly could, at age ten, and hasn't stopped since. Childcare is the only field she can see herself working in. In her free time, she loves to be with her friends and family, including her adorable fur babies, Ollie, Lucy, Kingsley, and Phineas! She loves reading, photography, writing, music, fall weather, and watching her favorite shows. In the future she sees herself continuing the path of working in childcare, having a family of her own, and possibly even going back to school to earn her teaching degree!

Both caregivers are certified with food handlers, CPR, and First Aid!

Email is the best way to get in contact with us! You are also welcome to text! We don't typically take phone calls. We have quite a few people emailing, so responses aren't instant but we reply as soon as we can!

Philosophy for childcare:
Explore the World Daycare will provide equal opportunity development for the early stages of youth by establishing a healthy and nurturing environment based on behavioral therapy techniques.

I am passionate about early childhood development and believe in the power of learning and opportunity for children to feel safe and loved, valued, validated, cared for and given tools to achieve their independence.

This home learning environment will give parents a sense of security and peace of mind that their child is having a great experience so that they can focus on their day.

We will practice the importance of independent social skills, confidence, conflict resolution, self awareness, empathy, and communication skills. Techniques used will include singing, imitating, echoic imitating, reading, and access to age specific tools for development such as books, toys, and games. We will teach appropriate transitions between activities. Children will be exposed to consistent stimulus communication (labeling of every movement the daycare teacher makes) and the proper names to everything they see and feel within their environment. We will also attempt to introduce additional concepts such as time management, accountability, group participation, patience, self discipline, building trust and healthy relationships, praising talents and achievements, and completion of tasks and goals.

As a licensed Behavioral Technician specializing in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA therapy) I have worked over 7 years in the mental health field and as a Behavioral Therapist for children with Autism. I am finishing my associates in Social Work and plan to complete my degree at the University of Utah to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

As a mother of two I value the importance of creating a nurturing environment that every parent expects their children to thrive within. I have work experience in daycares, mental health centers, and schools where I learned to empathize with both the client and their parents to help secure a safe and calm environment. This allows for the transition of everyday life to be easier to adopt.
