The Ready to Grow and Ready to Learn programs are staffed by skilled early childhood educators who provide a warm, nurturing, and educational environment that meets the needs of each child. Each age group/classroom is staffed by a program supervisor who has earned a four-year bachelor's degree in early childhood or related field.
Curriculum
The Ready to Grow and Ready to Learn curriculum focus is on school readiness in the areas of language and literacy, science and math, creative art and music,dramatic play and movement, as well as health and nutrition.
At Ready to Grow and Ready to Learn, we believe play is a central component to the curriculum. Early childhood research shows children learn best when engaged in hands-on learning experiences which occur during a child's play.
An important component to our curriculum is the Outdoor Classroom featured at Diamondhead Education Center. Outdoor environments promote active leaning through play and hands-on exploration. Nature provides a convenient and readily-available source of learning materials.
Adults in our program have critical roles in supporting children's play:
* Structuring the environment to provide open-ended learning (where children can participate at their own level and feel successful).
* Providing developmentally-appropriate materials.
* Modeling and encouraging appropriate behaviors and interactions during play.
