Pena Family Daycare

The Pena Family Daycare will be opening in June 2008. This in-home family child care center was started by Tony and Stephanie Pena. Tony is a Middle School Science teacher and Elementary/Middle School Physical Education teacher at a local private school.He also coaches numerous children's sports. Stephanie was a preschool teacher for three years and then a fourth grade teacher for three years. Stephanie decided to do the daycare to be able to stay home with their three-year-old son while she finishes her Master's Degree in Education Administration. Stephanie also holds her AA Degree in Early Childhood Education and her BA Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. <br/> <br/>Mission Statement <br/>We believe that children learn through active exploration and play and that self-esteem is built on mutual respect between us all--adults and children. We structure our program to be responsive to the needs of each child. We therefore offer opportunity for group activities and learning experiences along with opportunity to play and work individually. <br/> <br/>At the Pena Family Daycare, we offer a secure place for your children to play and learn. This family child care home will be modeled after a preschool facility. We will accept children two years six months through eight years. There will be five openings for children ages two through five years. There will be two openings for children ages six years to eight years for summer and after school care. <br/> <br/>The children will be engaged in learning activities throughout the day. Depending on their age level, they will be taught colors, shapes, numbers, writing, and reading as it applies to Early Childhood Education. The children will also be learning through play stations such as blocks, coloring, cutting, crafts, dress up, puzzles, and other age appropriate activities. There will also be a variety of outside activities available when the weather permits. <br/> <br/>We embrace diversity and enrollment will not be based on race or religion.
