Our daughter started here in January when she was about 14 months old. Previously we had family caring for her but after the first year we decided it was time to put her in a child care. We were very impressed with little sunrise from the beginning. Our daughter immediately warmed up to Ms Mary (which was a good sign for us because she is typically very apprehensive about strangers). The house is very secure with a gated front yard (with a locked security door) and a security door on the front door too. The room the kids are in is big enough for them to explore yet small enough to ensure they can't be out of sight. All of the toys and equipment are high quality and age appropriate. The food given to the kids is actually one of the biggest reasons we decided on Little Sunrise over other places we saw. Some of the other places we saw serve lots of canned foods, PB and J, cheese, and other quick and effortless foods. Ms. Mary feeds the children fresh home-cooked meals and you can tell she puts a lot of time and energy into meal planning and preparation. They eat a lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, spinach and bean stew, cheese noodles (made with feta if I remember correctly), spaghetti, etc. Everything looks and smells healthy and good (often she will show us or have us sample what she is giving them. Our daughter (now 18 months) loves it here and seems to have grown a lot socially since coming here, and Ms. Mary even taught her to say please and thank you. While it is not the cheapest place we found, it is also nowhere near the most expensive and more importantly we feel we are getting the best value for our money considering all she does.

We were a bit nervous when the time came to find a child care provider for our then 4 month old baby boy, and were lucky to have stumbled on Little Sunrise. We had interviewed with a few other providers, and from the beginning of the interview with LS, I could see this was caring home. More impressive is her extensive knowledge of childhood development and vast experience.

We decided to enroll our son and are proud to say we made the right decision. She is thorough, providing a daily chart documenting everything from what time he was fed and how much to describing activities and developments as he grows. They even store them in a file for reference. She is also very compassionate and friendly, and we can tell our son enjoys her company. Overall an amazing provider with a very comfortable and personal feel.

Our son has been with Ms. Mary and Tino since January of this year. We came from a large day care where the previous provider would often leave our son by himself in the room, and we were finally concerned about his well-being.

My first impression of Ms. Mary and Tino were they genuinely loved kids! They interacted with my son during the interview, and asked about his likes and dislikes. The professionalism and warmth we experienced was something that was lacking from our prior provider.

I love the daily reports I get in my son's binder. It tells me what he did during the day and the type of foods he ate. I love that lunch is always made from scratch (no frozen chicken nuggets and canned fruit here!)

My son has never been happier (except when he's at home, of course) with any other care provider, and his language development, gross and fine motor skills have all improved since he's been with Ms. Mary. I feel very fortunate to have found them, and I wish that we had started with them for my son's care.

My son started with Mrs. Cucu, Mary, over a month ago. Best choice we could have made! My son is just thriving. He is just so loved and cared for. I never worry about him, and coming from a mom that says a lot! Her educational background and love for her craft is exceptional. Her meal plans and daily activities are carefully planned out. The food is fresh and delicious, prepare onsite. My son has tried food that he wouldn't have at home, and has loved every bite! Her educational plans fit were the children are mentally and she is gradually setting them up to learn so much more! Each child's personal needs are honored and met with patience and love. This isn't just a daycare, its a family.

I originally left this review on Yelp in 2012 but would like to post it on here as well. A few weeks ago I contacted Little Sunrise about enrolling my 3 year old daughter. I was so surprised to receive such a warm and positive reaction from Gabby who introduced herself as the daughter to the provider and also her helper. Although she told me Little Sunrise did not have any available openings for my baby at the moment, she was so friendly and helpful. She took the initiative to help me find an appropriate daycare by getting me in contact with other providers in the area that she was familiar with! I actually didn't expect that at all. Usually, providers would just take your info down and say they'll contact you later if a new opening springs up. But Gabby was interested in finding me a good daycare. That already says a lot about Little Sunrise. I was on a serious search for providers and it was a really frustrating and long process. Gabby's efforts with this have really helped me narrow down my search. Even though my daughter never enrolled at Little Sunrise I thought Gabby's great customer service deserves to be recognized. My overall initial impression of Little Sunrise was very positive and I am certain that it's a great place to bring your child

Before my review I wanted to respond to the review below. I am amazed at the tone and the accusations in the other review. Ms. Mary has always been honest with us about everything. I trust her completely with my child and I trust her integrity. She has worked with our family on a few occasions when we needed special accommodations without ever complaining. She is a very giving and compassionate woman and I find it hard to believe she would ever mislead anyone. Like all of us who work, money is important for her job, but I know that she quit her other job (even when they were still calling her to try to get her to return!) so she could have a chance to care for children in this home environment. Ms. Mary truly loves what she does and I firmly believe if she ever becomes a millionaire she would continue doing this because she loves teaching our children. The following review is one I posted on Yelp:

Our one year old daughter attends Little Sunrise. She is extremely happy there. The toys that Ms. Mary invests in are high quality items and reflect her view of childcare: she believes in investing both her time and money in our child and in her emotional and mental development. I am a school teacher and after talking to Ms. Mary for a few minutes, one can tell that she has an incredible grasp on what a child needs at each stage. I was impressed with how well educated she is in this field; she has her Masters in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Mary has created an environment where my daughter can safely explore, learn and feel loved.

Ms. Mary is extremely fair and understanding. She puts the child first and she even put our family's needs over her own. Our child enjoys her days with Ms. Mary. Ms. Mary keeps meticulous records regarding the day's events, including feedings, diaper changes, but she also gives the parents a lot of written feedback regarding your child's day. She talks about temperament and learning, and this is just from my first few weeks.

I have used the larger day cares, this is the second in-home daycare that I have used, and I like the family feel instead of feeling like I am placing my child in an institution. Ms. Mary keeps the area the children play in immaculate and clean (by the next day of course! My child loves to pull everything off shelves right now!). I feel blessed to have found someone who will nurture my child emotionally and mentally

We met Mary after I posted a job, looking for someone to care for my 9 month old son two days per week. Mary responded to the job posting and after meeting with her and her husband, we thought Little Sunrise would be a great fit. At the initial meeting we mentioned in the future we may need care for more than two days, but never guaranteed we would send our son full time. Almost immediately after starting our son at Little Sunrise, Mary was very pushy about increasing the number of days. Nearly every interaction with her included a mention of her needing more full-time children or asking us if/when we will need more days for our son. It became very offensive and off-putting. When I am dropping off or picking up my baby we should be discussing his day and interactions, not constantly hearing about your business/financial situation. Finally, she told us she had a full-time child starting next week and she would be reaching her quota of infants and could no longer watch our son. She then proceeded to insist that my husband said we would send our son full time within 1-3 months, which is absolutely false. We finally had had enough. I understand she has a business to run, however, we are talking about my baby here and I want to feel like he is in the hands of someone who genuinely loves children...and not simply in the business to make the most money as possible. My lasting impression of Little Sunrise and Mary is she is in it for the money. I really wish that Mary had been more upfront with us from the beginning. She should not have responded to our job posting for part time if she was planning on pushing us out after a month when a full-time child came along. I feel sad that my son was just getting used to Little Sunrise, Mary, and the other children there when we had to pull him out. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing and discouraging first daycare experience for us.
