I decided to wait a little bit to let my emotions come down before reviewing this hourly care facility so I could give a clear review of this facility.

Our son, 3, is on the spectrum. Very lovable loves to play and is non-verbal. He doesn't have anxiety when we leave, solo plays VERY well but he currently LOVES playing in water. (a common Autism and 3 year old feature.)

I've been called several times within 2 hours of him being at the facility to come get him because he's requiring to much "one on one" care as he won't stay out of the water.

The director said they have water tables but they don't take them out in the winter months because kids could get wet.

It's an indoor facility and I send extra clothes so I don't feel as that is a good reason to deny redirecting him to an appropriate way to play with water.

The last time I took him there, a provider (Peggy) attacked me the moment I walked through the door. She demanded to know what my " Plan B" was for my child because she said he wouldn't "make it that long" and it may not even be " worth dropping him off"

This is the only hourly childcare facility in the area and I was headed to a job site for a commercial client. I needed care for 2.5 hours at the most. ( including travel to and from).

I explained to her that if he had to be picked up then I would have to leave my job and come get him. She asked how far away I was going and where. (I feel like this wasn't her business as to what I was doing and where I was going, but I let her know anyways)

She proceeded to indulge in my child's special needs and personal information while checking other parents in during our check in.

I felt very attacked and backed into a corner. It made me uncomfortable to leave him there but I know he loves playing there and I didn't have issues with the other providers.

She kept saying how it doesn't matter if he's Autistic, if he wont stay out of the water, I'll have to come get him.

I dropped him off and said I would handle that if it came down to it. The moment he went into the play area he b-lined for the water. She let out a huge agitated sigh and said " He's ALREADY in the water. SOMEONE go GET HIM. "

At that point I was furious that she would have that attitude towards my child and demanded him back. I checked him out and left the facility. I was in tears and had broken outings hives because I was so upset about this experience. I was putting my son back into our car when another provider came out and HUGGED ME AND APOLOGIZED for her behavior.

I called my contractor and had to do a last minute cancellation which almost made me lose my contract with them.

Autism is a disability that is protected under the ADA. I know that he requires a little more guidance than the typical 3 year old, but he shouldn't be rejected, especially in a place that is trained and credentialed to take care of children.

When I spoke to the director she apologized and told me Peggy should not have said those things to us and that we have notes on file to help accommodate our son but nothing was followed through and it left us high and dry for childcare.

I cannot take him back there because I cannot trust that she will not retaliate agisnt my son. Being that he is non-verbal (he doesn't talk at all) he cannot tell me if someone is mistreating him. Since the director notified me that the cameras in the facility are not on during the time that kids are there and are only there for security while the facility is closed I cannot ask to have any tapes reviewed.

We are here because of the Army. We don't have a vast support system of friends and family that we can reach out to for "hourly care" for our kids. This is why I enrolled our son here after meeting with the director and being ensured that his disability could en accommodated. It was such a big mistake and I hate that he is not welcome at a place that is designed for children.

We are in the process of hiring an attorney that specializes in ADA cases.
