This home care agency, Home Helpers, deserves no stars so I really hate even giving Hubert Pennings, owner of Home Helpers, one star. On three occasions when my husband's caregiver could not come, he always said he was sending someone else and would give me a name but on those few occasions, no one showed up. I called him, left messages and he never returned my calls. I was satisfied with my spouse's caregiver so I stayed until he stopped paying her. He did not pay her for 3 weeks and she could not continue to work for free. It has been a few months now and he still refuses to pay her. During the time when he stopped paying my spouse's caregiver, I had major heart surgery. 2 weeks later, our home flooded and then a week later, my husband went by EMS to hospital with serious chest pain. Hubert knew all this and still left us without help. That was an unconscionable act on his part. He left his caregiver with no pay and she was living pay check to pay check. I really don't know how we made it through this period of time. It was very difficult as I had a very ill husband and I was recovering from major heart surgery. What I really don't understand is that we have insurance to pay for home care and he stopped collecting the money from our insurance company. I have reported him to 5 agencies and he should be hearing from them soon. The man admitted to me that he did not pay his caregiver saying she did not clock in and out and that was a lie. We have witnesses that she worked but he still insisted that he was justified by not paying her. All of this has been a nightmare.
