I would not trust Home Care Advantage of Santa Rosa with the care of a loved one. I contacted HCA and set an in-person appointment with a Client Care Manager to meet my mother (for whom we were looking for a caregiver), as well as my sister and myself. My sister and I were impressed with the Client Care Manager - she spent about 90 minutes with us, had great questions and suggestions. I gave the Client Care Manager a detailed document on the care my mother required, that included taking medication, overseeing eye drops and meals. The Client Care Manager asked that I e-mail that document for the care plan. I e-mailed that detailed care document, a list of prescriptions, eye drop schedule, food likes and dislikes. The Client Care Manager sent the contract and a request for credit card info. Once that was provided, the Client Care Manager stopped being pro-active in communication. I had to keep e-mailing and calling to get any response on the status of finding a caregiver. A caregiver was finally assigned and I went to my mom's half way through that initial visit. The caregiver was sitting speaking with my mom (which is fine). I asked the caregiver if she gave my mom her medication, was overseeing the eye drops and had fed my mom. The answer was no to all. No one had provided the caregiver with any instructions on the care my mom required. The caregiver may have been the best in the world for all I know, but the Client Care Manager shared absolutely none of the information from the 90-minute meeting or what I provided in writing to the Client Care Manager. Nor was I told I had to provide detailed care instructions to the caregiver (I was led to believe that was the job of the Client Care Manager.) I e-mailed the owner of HCA and Client Care Manager for an explanation. After several days of no explanation, I canceled the contract. It has been over 2 weeks now and there has been absolutely no explanation as to what happened. This company put my mother's health and well-being at risk. I would not trust them with the care of anyone, ever.
