My daughter started going to First steps when she turned 2 years old because her home daycare was no longer taking toddlers and I was devastated with only a two weeks prior notice. I was devastated! I am a very protective involved mom. After going on several scheduled tours at other daycares which did not pan out, I decided to call First Steps to see if I could schedule a tour. I was told that I did not need to schedule a tour and could come on over anytime... This let me know that they were not trying to hide anything, which was great and a relief. Once I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms and was able to see the kids in action with teacher interaction. There are cameras in each classroom and hall ways and the doors remain locked at all times. They also utilize Bright Wheel so that you can communicate with staff throughout the day. They send videos of special moments, activities, birthdays, and special achievements. Periodically they have safety drills to that teaches the kids what to do in case of an emergency. They have Chapel every Wednesday and sing, dance, and learn about the goodness of Jesus Christ, which my daughter absolutely loves. In addition, they go outside at least twice a day, have several playgrounds, a gym for days when going outside is not suitable due to weather, and has ballet and soccer available for an additional cost. They are not money hungry or hounding, which is a plus. LOL I am involved in my child's learning at and with the staff/teacher assistance my daughter has excelled above average. Administration, teachers and staff all listen to the parents and any concerns that may present and take care and actions in coming to a resolution. They are truly caring and make you feel very comfortable with communicating should anything arise. The staff, kids, education, and visual décor displays diversity, which I love. My daughter is now 4 years old and getting ready to transition to Kindergarten. After being tested for Kindergarten at a private school I was told that my daughter was beyond on track and ready for Kindergarten... and as I write this review, she has not turned 5 yet..
I cannot tell you how outstanding the K-4 Graduation was this year which included K-2s, K-3s, and the Ballet Recitals for K4s and K-3s. They also had several prop stations for parents to utilize for pictures and had gift bags with several special items for each graduates. They just keep getting better and better .
I also have a 9 month old and she started going to First steps at 4 months old. Having an infant, comes with a different kind of worry... but I can't tell you how much I appreciate the staff in the baby room, they helped me make the transition into daycare easy. They listen, communicate and send you pictures and videos every day and sometimes several times a day. When my daughter rolled over and started crawling they sent me videos to make sure that I did not miss any special firsts moments. She has transitioned to the bigger infant room and continues to thriving and accomplishing mile stone. She is now eating baby food and teething so finding what she likes and don't like is the challenge, but the staff gives me feedback everyday to assist with this little challenge... They are truly another extension of me when I can't be present and I am truly comfortable with the decision to have my kids at First Step Academy. If you decide to bring out kid to First Steps, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

After switching from an in-home daycare in February (2018), we couldn't be more pleased with our decision to put our now 8 month old and 2.5 y/o in First Steps! Ms. Emily (director) and every single staff member has welcomed us and made this an easy transition. Our oldest has some speech delays and they were very particular about where they placed him, rather than just put him in a pre-arranged aged class. Our youngest is in the infant room and you can tell she adores all her teachers! Our son equally loves his teachers and they are very involved and motivated to help with his speech. We love getting pictures and updates on our app. It's nice to see children genuinely having a great time and teachers who care!

I'm thankful to the teachers and staff of First Steps who have provided my grandchildren with a great preschool education as well as a nurturing environment that has given them the confidence to become happy and successful students. Our family has many happy memories of their preschool day!

My son was enrolled at Calvary First Steps for two years. We had the most amazing and warming experience there. You'll see Ms. Peggy walking the halls daily and always with a smile. Ms. Myrna, my son's teacher from last year did a great job teaching letters and letter sounds in preparation for VPK. The only reason my son is not at Calvary this school is because I started a new job near Lake Nona and wouldn't be able to pick him up on time. As a teacher myself, I'd definitely recommend Calvary First Steps to my family, friends and colleagues. I have no regrets. I'm paying more for my son's school but I most definitely miss the warm, nurturing, friendly and trustworthy environment.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! THIS IS A HORRIBLE PLACE!!!! The kids are yelled at daily, the staff is constantly leaving and the new TYRANT Executive Director Emily Coutras, is extremely rude, condescending, disrespectful and unprofessional. The teachers with the exception of three are very cold. Most of them are grumpy, unpleasant and don't seem like they want to be there. Don't expect them to be friendly, courteous or interact with the parents at all. They are very short tempered and very negative towards the kids. The atmosphere here has completely changed for the worst in 2017. So, if you want to torture your children and don't care about them, this is the place for you. If you care about your children DO NOT enroll them here!!!

First Steps at Calvary provides a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The children seem to be at peace and full of joy. It is very well put together and clean. They even offer tours prior to enrolling your child for you to really get a feel for the childcare environment. And how could I forget to mention its conveniently located right off I-4 in Winter park.
