I would give a million stars if I could. Two years ago my mother was 89, but she was so healthy it seemed as if she just turned 80. Then Covid set her back big time. Now she is 91 but seems as if she is going on 97. She is needy and anxious and does not like to be alone. I thought that finding suitable care that could keep her happy and upbeat would be impossible to find. And for more than a year and a half, it was impossible. I had hired caregivers from agencies that simply did not care. They would send an aide to my mother's apartment without any preparation or background about my mother's mental health or the overall assignment. What an absolute nightmare that was for my mom. Additionally, there was no continuity of care, although consistency was supposedly guaranteed. Shame on so many of the other agencies. Then enter Applause Home Care, my mother's personal heroes. They provided a renewed joy and restored a wonderful quality of life for her. Jim and his nursing team thoroughly evaluate and assess all of the needs of those they care for, not only their physical needs, but their emotional needs as well. They go out of their way to make certain that there is a personality match between the caregiver and the person receiving the care. As Jim believes and successfully achieves, together we are genuine care partners. That is a promise I found to be made by many agencies but kept by only one, Applause Home Care, period. Many agencies, I worked with six others, make that promise, but they do not deliver. They simply post a 'job' on the Internet, and send whoever replies, with no regard as to whether it is a suitable personality match or not. Jim and his team absolutely do not operate that way, they do care if the personalities fit. It can be a very long and sad day for an elder to spend the day with someone they do not know or do not get along with; but the day goes by very nicely when it is spent with someone who cares about them, someone who tries to make them feel good and is concerned about not only their physical needs, but their emotional needs as well. Applause Home Care is the first agency that I have ever recommended, and it is the only agency I would ever recommend. They really try to make elders feel happy and feel good about themselves. Applause Home Care gets involved, stays involved, remains committed, and genuinely cares about the people they care for. Jim makes personal visits to introduce anyone new, which my mother loves. The nurse Joy, such a sweet person, also visits for a checkup, and mom is always excited about that visit too! Applause Home Care is also readily available, very approachable, and they take the time to talk about all the needs and concerns of your loved one whenever you feel the need to talk about it. I haven't felt this comfortable or confident about my mother's care in a very long time. I waited a few months to post a review to make sure it wasn't mostly sales talk or just moments of good luck. Now after several months though, it's all kudos and accolades to Jim, his team, and his caregivers. They are different, and they are special, because they really do care. Thank you to all of the Applause team. We thank you, we respect you, and we appreciate you.
