My backround includes work at Cardinal hayes which is an agency based in Millbrook NY and provides care for mental challenged children. I worked as a developmental specialist for which I created programs to help the children move forward and achieve goals in there lives.When I gave birth to my second child I decided to open the daycare so I could be home with her. I thought that I would do daycare until Meghan went to school because I loved my job and was truly torn. Well Meghan is 21 and is now out of school and both of my daughters work for me as substitutes and because of there love of children both work in the field.We are a licensed in home daycare that is totally separate from our home and child centered. We have recently given the space a very bright face lift We offer a preschool curriculum in a home based setting Which I feel is ideal.We work very hard and have been very successful in preparing our preschoolers for kindergarten.We work through the alphabet numbers shapes colors socialization group play sharing etc with a theme based curriculum.We also work on handwashing toothbrushing after breakfast everyday and assist with potty training when appropriate. The children learn through the use of many mediums such as but not limited to paint chalk water sand glue sensory manipulative materials etc.We believe the best and only way for children to learn to is feel safe comfortable and loved in there enviorment and through play we strongly believe that the its the process of creativity and not the product at the end that teaches our children. We serve nutriously balance breakfast lunch and an afternoon snack all staff are cpr and first aid certifide all children have cubbies for the personnal belongings and mailboxes for art work.We have a morning meeting to come together as a group read stories and sing songs we discuss the date weather and our theme each child is encouraged to participate so they have a sense of belonging then we have activity time free play outside and in.We also have age appropriate computer games and encourage group games as well as individual play We enjoy the outside play in a fenced in large back yard filled with age appropriate eqipment and plenty of room to run we go outside daily weather permitting
