The children go outside everyday and summertime all day with sprinklers and water tables. FUN is what the Sandcastle specializes in. Through play the children learn to share and care! Play is done with many different toys. We have a play kitchen inside and outside. While inside the kids use many different types of blocks, both wooden and plastic, large and small to develop all those skills. Dress up clothes are in abundance! The children love to be anything their hearts can imagine! Circle time is done every day, an opportunity for the kids to have a blast. We encourage the kids to touch and feel different objects and things that begin with the letter of the week. During Circle time we sing favorite songs and learn new ones all while using Alexa. Alexa is used throughout the day to transition into different activities. Music and movement is another fun time. The kids sing along all while using the music instruments of their choice. Colorful scarves are used to enhance movement and dancing. Arts and crafts are done daily. The craft centers around the letter of the week, allowing the children to bring home something they can continue to learn from and certainly be proud of! Holidays are celebrated at the Sandcastle in a big way through beautiful inside decorations, parties, presents, and parent involvement. We have an open door policy and parents are always welcome. The daycare has a designated breastfeeding area for those mommies that would like to feed their babies on-site. A small list of learning materials on hand, blocks, little people and their houses, dress up clothes, cars both big and small, blocks both big and small, tunnels, sand boxes for indoor exploration, play dough, doctor kits, dolls, barbies, bristles, tiles, dinosaurs, books, a large rowboat, and puzzles just to name a few. Different toys work on different skills. The Sandcastle participates with the NY state food program and as such we serve what is called a picky plate. A protein, starch, vegetable, fruit and milk each meal. Encouraging children to try new foods and continue with one's already loved!
