Bilingual Teacher-23 Years Experience Available Weeknights And Weekends Ages 6-12

I am a seasoned teacher who has taught for 23 years in public and private schools. I am certified to teach Bilingual and ESL students in a self-contained classroom for grades 1st through 8th grade. I have taught from 1st through 8th grade, the majority of my years in 4th and 5th grade. I have mostly worked with "At-Risk" students and have been quite successful in their academic growth rate. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from UTSA in 1992. In 2008, I received my Masters of Arts in Advanced Literacy from Concordia University-Texas. Although I did receive my Masters in reading, I believe I'm a better math teacher because I struggled in math. I'm able to understand the students' misunderstandings because I was that student. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my 3 rescue dogs. So, if you have dogs, I don't have any issues with them. I look forward to working with your child and get her/him reach their academic potential.

Hey there! I have been a tutor since I was a school aid in elementary. I can grasp concepts fast and help the child understand in easier ways than what they teach in school. It all about hands on learning! I am a college student currently attending my University and even with a 9-year-old sister I can help any age, I did work as a teacher in a daycare for a year whereas I would do was help children with their homework and community skills, I absolutely love the light when a child finally understands a concept! If I'm the right choice for you I can truly be helpful in many ways, if you have any questions let me know and Ill be sure to get back to you promptly!

History Tutor Available
Avg response < 10 hrs
Hello! I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Most of my tutoring work has been in English and reading subjects however I can help with math as I am skilled in up to college level statistics. My methods of teaching involve a strong emphasis on phonics for young children. For older children I focus more on reading comprehension and things that you might see on SAT exams or similar. Learning a new subject is difficult and frustrating: especially if you already don't like the subject. I try to employ non frustrating methods in teaching and create different ways for students to remember certain approaches to answering questions. I can easily work with children and teach them rhymes to help them remember their history, spell, and sight words. For older kids what seems to work is being able to use words they may find difficult in a sentence. That way they can better understand them. If you have any questions please message me! Thank you for your consideration.
