PhD Student Available As Tutor
I am a PhD student at Boston University, focusing on Mediterranean archaeology. I am experienced working with children as a camp counselor and nature/science instructor for many years in Newton, Needham, and Wellesley.
I also have extensive teaching experience, working as a graduate course assistant and teacher's assistant for college-age students. I am an adjunct instructor at a local university, teaching Geographic Information Systems, and have also worked with many local middle schools to run workshops on archaeology.
I can aid in the following: college applications, SAT prep, GRE prep, literature, writing skills, introductory Latin, Spanish, high school level mathematics, art history, computer skills, and general history/social studies. For college-level students or advanced high school students, I can teach cartography, spatial analysis, and basic visualization modeling, which I apply in my own research. In these subjects, I emphasize practical application, comprehension, and most importantly, effectively communicating one's ideas via writing.
I live in Newton Center, but grew up in Wellesley, MA. I went to college at Clark University in Worcester. I also completed to MA degrees in Classical Archaeology and Greek and Roman Studies. I have a lot of experience with Massachusetts-based universities as well as the local public school systems, and could be a great asset to your child's education, either for schoolwork or for college applications! I am available on weekends and evenings.
