Mainly in the State of NJ, Early Intervention is home based and a Preschool/ Kindergarten are 2.5 hrs or a half day programming. We at The Mindful Learning Center want to offer therapies to children who need more but "do not qualify." Having a combination of therapy in the home and/or 2.5 hours a day at their local school district, plus the Mindful Learning Center will give your child the additional therapy teaching in a fun and loving environment. Many parents tell me that their child is doing well but wishes they could get more instruction. That instruction would be ideal in a daycare but there are too many kids in a class... and the concerns go on. Here at the Mindful Learning Center we have a small class size with no more than a 2:1 student/ teacher ratio. Our program is guided by the State Standards for 2-6 yrs. The model of Mindful is Engaged Learning, which encourages the child to self-regulate and be able to define their own learning goals and evaluate their own achievements. They will be able to solve problems, understand, and take the next step in their thinking. They will be able to collaborate when tasks require integrated instruction that incorporates problem-based learning. All is taught in a Naturalistic Teaching Style which consists of behavioral modifications, foster speech/language development and socialization skills. We encourage all children to problem solve and giving the child time to think of their actions helps them become flexible thinkers when interacting with others. The Mindful Learning Center will accept all children and at whatever time they are needed to come between the hours of 8-5 p.m. For example, some children come in at 11:45 and stay till 4 p.m. This allows socialization during eating times, center areas and table top activities. It gives the parent a break, and/or go to work while knowing their child is getting the best quality care in a loving environment while getting additional therapy infused into their school day.
