About who needs care: My mother is 76, has arthritis & COPD; she also suffers from incontinence & severe depression, I also suspect she may have hypermobility spectrum disorder and ADHD. As a result she has a harder & harder time getting around and she needs some assistance. She's a really lovely person who has lived an incredibly fascinating life (former regional sales manager for American Airlines, worked there for 35 years) and these past few years, as she's been getting older and more infirmed, have been very hard on her mental health.
She often forgets to take her medication and when she does take her medication, she often forgets to eat. I unfortunately live 2 hours away & I work 2 jobs so I'm not able to be there enough, which is why I think it would be helpful for her to have an in-home care nurse to check in on her a few times a week. I think just the regularity & consistency of having that kind of care would be of massive help to her, in more ways than one.
About the care needs: Someone who is kind & understanding (of course) but also has a firm hand. My mother is definitely a pleaser but she's also bullheaded when it comes to taking care of herself & her surroundings. She lives with my godmother (also 76) who is decidedly more mobile than my mother but she is not strong enough to help her with the moving around tasks.
Also, when I tell you my mother is a fascinating person, I cannot stress that enough. She has lived a long, interesting life full of adventure & travel and anyone who would take care of her would definitely hear some incredible stories. She needs someone who can remind her she's not dead yet.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
