Seeking care for my father in his 50s. Services needed: companionship, bathing / dressing, mobility assistance, transportation, light housekeeping. No prior experience required. Specialized care needs: support for chronic illness, support for memory care. A little more about my father: he can be lethargic, reserved. He suffered a stroke about 4 months ago, and it really did some damage. He also suffered from a heart attack at the same time. And before that he was suffering from mini strokes and has had numerous back surgeries. He is a fall risk and he recently fell and broke his arm because he is stubborn and didn't ask for help getting up to use the restroom. He has dialysis three times a week, Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. He's a pretty laid back go with the flow guy. I'm looking for someone who is patient, firm, strong, fond of pets, outdoorsy. My dads a big guy about 6'2 210lbs so someone strong and able to help keep him steady on his feet would be preferable. We do have a big dog as well but he loves people, and can be put outside in another room when you are here. My dads very stubborn and doesn't like doing exercises and things that his physical, speech, or occupational therapist give him so someone that can be stern and stay on him about doing them would be amazing. He has some trouble walking but we do have a wheel chair so walks, or even trips out of the house would be good for him as well so someone who is willing to that would be great too. I'm just looking for someone to come and kind of give me a hand and give me a chance to go out and go grocery shopping or catch up with friends, or give me and my fiancé a chance to go out. My dad enjoys anything old car or Jeep related. He can be stubborn at times but he is really laid back too and very rarely complains about anything. I know he's frustrated with everything that's going on but he is also trying to have a positive outlook on it as well. He knows that I need some help taking care of him and he's more then ready and accepting of someone coming to give me a hand every once in awhile.
