I would like to take care for two children full time in my home. I am a mother of three. I am CPR and First Aid trained. References and letters of recommendations available. I have 29 years experience working with children in music and public elementary schools, YMCA, park district, daycare. I instructed child fitness classes, art/crafts classes, toddler programs, birthday parties. Currently I teach piano/voice at a local music school and privately late afternoons and evenings part time. We got a large yard with a Little Tykes playhouse, little slide and picnic table/benches for toddlers, playground park is 5 min walking distance. Inside I have a mini-trampoline, large exercising mats and age appropriate toys. I serve healthy meals, many homemade with organic milk, rBTS/rBGH free diary, most veggies/fruits organic, no toxic preservatives or dyes,no artificial colors in cereal, uncured hams, hotdogs. We do not buy pop drinks and we do not use white table sugar. We prefer stevia, honey, agave syrup and maple syrup. No harmful electromagnetic radiation - our router and modem are wired, home phone is corded. I attended an art school for eleven years and I like to do arts and crafts with children. We can sing and play on simple music instruments but piano lessons are optional too. Story times, games, outdoor fun with bubbles, parachute, chalk drawing. Children will have a lot of personal attention, less exposure to germs like you can find in large daycare centers. I can drive them to a preschool and activities as well, outings to parks, library, amusement places if parents agree and sign a permission.

Betty J. says "Katarina is excellent with my little boy. She is very accommodating and has lots of fun things for kids to do!"

Discovery Rainbow Home Daycare and Preschool has been serving families of the western suburbs since 2002. With almost 1000 ft.² of indoor space dedicated to the children, as well as 4000 ft.² of private outdoor play space, we’ve worked hard throughout the years to maintain a clean and well kept environment. Most of all every family who comes to us becomes part of our Discovery Rainbow Family. Here at Discovery Rainbow, we offer play based and structured learning providing your child with a wide range of age-appropriate experiences during their time with us. We provide breakfast, lunch and two snacks daily as well as special holiday and birthday snacks when we celebrate your child’s special day. All children get their own cot, pillow and blanket and are expected to rest once a day during our “quiet time” which is also Miss Jennie and Mr. Jim’s lunch break. We allow your child time throughout the day to play freely by themselves or with other friends. We also put older children into smaller groups for structured play experiences. We provide a year-round preschool curriculum focusing on letters, numbers, shapes, listening skills, communication skills, following directions and focus. We read stories that go along with our letter of the week or our preschool theme that week. As part of the holidays or special theme weeks, stories may be about Santa, Easter Bunny, friends, equality, acceptance, or behavior. We provide art experiences that help children follow directions, learn steps, practice their small motor skills, learn to cut, paste and be creative. Occasionally the older children get the opportunity for Cooking with Miss Jennie where they have fun helping make a snack, they will eat that day. It helps them learn to follow step by step directions, how to measure ingredients, math skills, and taking turns. We provide structured group times where we play games, have dance parties, and participate in large motor play with our indoor balance beams, etc. We have a fully gated yard and playground and try to get the kids out at least once a day, weather permitting. Above all else we try to teach the children to be respectful and show kindness, love, and acceptance to one another regardless of differences. To always try to be a good friend, take turns and share. Thank You for considering Discovery Rainbow Home Daycare & Preschool for your families childcare needs.

My hours are 7:30- 5:30, M-F. A little bit about about me... I'm Katie and I'm a mom to a sweet little girl that was born in August of 2013 & a boy born October, 2015. I have 8+ years experience working with children, most of which is working with infants and toddlers. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with my BA in Applied Psychology with an emphasis in developmental psychology. I was a nanny for several years and also worked at a daycare in the West Loop where I was an infant teacher. I also did an internship with a preschool in Bridgeport. I'm First Aid & CPR certified. The daycare is in the process of being licensed by DCFS. I will have a maximum of 8 children so we can ensure each child receives the proper care and attention. We will be accepting children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years of age. The daycare is located on the first floor of our residence with a lot of open space and a variety of toys for the children to play with. I plan to spend as much time outdoors with the children, weather permitting as well as trips to the local parks. I provide healthy meals & snacks using whole foods. I don't believe children should eat too much processed food or juices. My teaching philosophy is that I help children learn through play and by exploring their environment. Under my care, daily routines include: daily story time, listening to music and dancing, puzzles, imagination play and art projects using paint and crayons. Snuggle Bear Day Care is dual language in Spanish. I have a dynamic curriculum that incorporates music, dancing, arts, crafts and science into learning. We are always finding creative ways to make learning fun! The day care is also Eco-friendly. We encourage the use of bamboo towels instead of paper towels. Furniture is made of natural materials, no laminate plywood. I also teach the children about recycling and sometimes use recycled materials to make art projects.

Lilac House Childcare

3511 S Washtenaw Ave Chicago, IL

The Lilac House is not just a daycare, but a place for learning and growth for your child as well as your family. Children will receive the highest quality education and care that they deserve, taking into consideration their diverse learning needs, ages, and preferences. During the day, our home functions as a childcare center, and in the evenings and on weekends the Lilac House is also a place for community and family gatherings. We are community responsive, meaning that families have a say in how our program runs. Each month families will gather for a Reflective Practice Group. Food will be provided and as a community we will review the learning that is happening in the classroom as well as the program itself. Families are invited to propose new ideas for learning experiences and program policies. As a whole, we will decide on how to move forward with the program for the following month. Being community responsive also means making sure that our community is well, and that we are taking good care of each other. A monthly newsletter that is designed to offer relevant resources and news to our families will be sent out with resources on food, housing and work opportunities. Rather than referring to the adults in our community as "Parents" we use the term "Caregiver" as an interchangeable term throughout many of our documents and our website. Not all adults are biologically related to a child, or feel that they associate with terms like Mom, Dad or even Parent. We believe that Caregiver is a term that better fits the variety of roles an adult might have in a child's life. Please keep in mind that learning can happen in the classroom, but learning also happens in everyday interactions between a child's primary caregiver, their siblings, and observations they make of the adults that surround them. It is an integral part of the Lilac House that parents are just as curious as their children, and are willing to engage in our community whole-heartedly.

I am a stay at home mother that offers childcare in my home. I have two wonderful children of my own - a 6 year old son that loves to get into everything and makes sure that the house is never too quiet. I also have an 11 year old daughter that loves playing with all the other kids in the house. Both of my children are home-schooled. My home is very laid back and the kids will get to have lots of fun. I have a big fenced in backyard with a swing set that the kids can play on. We also have a family dog. Tiger is a 4 year old rescue that has more energy than most of the kids, any children that are the appropriate height will be subjected to many unsolicited kisses from her. I try to take the kids on a field trip every week or two. I have taken the kids to many great places like the zoo, aquarium, parks, strawberry picking, etc. If you would like to see if my home would be a good fit for your child, just let me know. Availability as of 2/21/2018, I am only providing occasional childcare at this time. If you need help for a one time or occasional event feel free to contact me.
