The Renaissance School a morning preschool program serving families with children 2.9 - 5 years old. Children are welcome to enroll anytime during the academic school year, as soon as they become 2.9 yrs old. Our preschool is located on the northern edge of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, which enables us to take advantage of everything the campus has to offer - we attend children's performances at the Fine Arts Center and enjoy taking local field trips. The Renaissance School serves as an internship site for UMass and student interns from various departments work with us each semester. The interns bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and help us maintain a high teacher to child ratio in our classroom. The Renaissance School has an open door policy and parents are welcome anytime. Parents are welcome to join us on field trips, help with cooking and craft projects, and participate in our circle times, if they would like to, but this is not a requirement. We also warmly welcome children who are learning English as a second language. Since we are located so close to UMass, we serve families from all over the world. Our small class size and high teacher to child ratio help provide a warm, supportive environment for all the children and families in our care. We are assmall non-profit Reggio inspired Children's Center using the Nurtured Heart Approach in North Amherst. We provide care for children 15 months-5+years. Our summer program can have children up to eight years old. We have three classrooms and a staff of 11. We have a 1:00, 3 day minimum attendance requirement . Our pick-up times are 1:00, 3:30 and 5:30. We serve organic morning and afternoon snacks. We are licensed by the DEEC. We are nestled away in a quiet, historic neighborhood. Opened our doors in 1989 ( 26 years of experience) and through the years have earned an excellent reputation. We now are servicing some children whose moms and dads used to attend our center! We enroll students from age 2 months through 8 years old. A family run operation that gives individual attention to each child and their family. We greet with a smile, teach children of all ages and just plain have fun. Academics through play are a part of our daily routine. Staff are supportive of all personalities, aware of each child's needs and give much attention to each student as well as support families. We do weekly progress reports for each child which gives us a goal and a plan for each child and assists in our on-going assessment of each child attending.
