About Marcus

I like kids and the topics that I tutor. And that genuine enthusiasm comes across clearly. Especially if you have a student who feels defeated or like they're in crisis-I enjoy building up students self-confidence and sense of self-efficacy. I've taught all of the math courses from 8th grade math to AP Calculus BC for 3 years, beyond my other tutoring experience. And some of my stronger skills as a tutor include the ability to meet students where they are at, my patience and concern for their well being, and deep knowledge that helps students develop their own understanding. In my spare time I do a lot of running and I love strength training (but the extra weight makes running harder). I also enjoy backpacking, birding, reading, and trivia nights. I study a lot of math too and though it's not what I do for fun, I do find it a lot of fun! Anatomy and physiology is what I've been studying for fun lately.
