About Laura

As a licensed educator who holds their Masters in Teaching, I know how to improve my students reading comprehension, move beyond frustration, and reach a new level of understanding and enjoyment. Through argumentative, analytical, comparative, creative, imaginative, and research based writing styles, my students learn how to develop a specific claim (thesis), gather evidence, and weave together a story that persuades audiences and explains ideas concretely. As a tutor I supported middle schoolers in ELA. As a paraeducator I supported students with IEP's and behavioral needs. For the last three years, I've taught high school English, grades 9, 11, and 12. My skills include vocabulary strengthening, reading comprehension strategies, and writing styles and analysis. I love supporting youth to be writers and readers BEYOND the classroom and after high school.
