About Elinor

I am a certified teacher with 5 years of experience in middle and high school classrooms and an advanced degree. Reading: I taught a young adult literature class inspired by my passion for connecting students with important stories. Much of my professional development covered the science of reading at the secondary level and helping students develop a reading identity. Writing: Secondary students are expected to write in three domains: narrative, expository, and argument. I completed a fellowship with the Journalistic Learning Institute where I gained tools to help students identify credible sources, integrate information, and form a coherent line of reasoning. Students will encounter this type of writing in high school, on exams like the SAT, and in college. As a person, I am enthusiastic about my subject area, patient, and excited to watch my students grow!
