Hands-on Care Needed For My Mother - My 60-year-old mother who w...

Full Time $12 – 20/hr Starts 11/16 Oklahoma City, OK
About who needs care: My 60-year-old mother who worked full time in behavioral health has a spinal cord injury as of April 2021 which impairs her lower body. She uses a power chair for full mobility and is very friendly. She can transfer with a sliding board and just needs help with the set up. She would primarily need help getting dressed with lower body , showers, as well as helping with emptying her catheter. She would also need someone to assist for night time routine to help use the sliding board to get into bed and then help complete her bowel program she is on nightly. She is highly motivated to help as much as she can and may need help with some light household responsibilities. She loves being active so her her injury has really taken some joys from her. We are trying to find an accessible apartment for her and want to set up a consistent schedule of caregivers who could help facilitate her basic needs while she assimilates returning to work and living again. It would be just her in the apartment. Thank you About the care needs: My mother is very friendly but hates talking about her injury as it was very traumatic. A friendly person with an outgoing nature would be ideal. Also anyone with nursing experience with spinal cord injuries is a major plus but not required as we can provide training. No age requirement and we are willing to help high schoolers and college students who are looking to get into nursing. Specialized skills include being able to aid my mom in transfers to bed, shower chair, and her power chair. Also being able to assist with a catheter bag. She has one permanently that just needs to be emptied when full. She has a bowel program 1 time per day and needs help with injecting the suppository since she has neurogenic bowel and bladder. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
