Seeking care for my mother in her 90s. Services needed: bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, transportation, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, nursing experience, support for memory care.
Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be pleasant, grouchy, independent. Mom likes living alone but has become more dependent on our help. She has trouble remembering to take her meds and fixing her food. She has early signs of dementia. She has good days and some not so good! My brother and I share caring for her. However, we cannot be there every day, or stay with her 24/7.... she uses a walker to get around. She lives in an apartment by herself, but this is becoming more difficult for her. She has trouble using a microwave to heat her food.
We'd like someone to prepare her breakfast and something she can eat late afternoon, take her AM meds, help with showering, wash and change her sheets, and sweep, mop, clean her bathroom, dust.... weekly. A couple of hours 3 days... but may need more... we'd like it be flexible.
I'm looking for someone who is patient, strong. We'd like someone to be patient and kind to her. Someone who would share and listen to stories maybe look at photos.... someone strong to give her a bath. Someone who likes to cook... mom was a great cook and known for her pies! she is liberal.
Mom can't walk but on nice days would love to sit on her patio or take a short walk. She needs to do more moving. She likes to listen to music and watch TV. She is blind in one eye and wears hearing aides in both ears! She'd enjoy a book if you can take time and read. She has trouble listening to books... I've tried books and tapes. Maybe putting a puzzle together. She use to play cards...?
