The Child Unique Montessori School was founded in 1983 and serves families with children from 2 years old through the 6th grade at 3 locations in Alameda. We seek to maintain an average ratio of 1:8, with class sizes limited to 16 students. We prize our ability to encompass both gifted and challenged students in a unique way, which only a smaller environment can do. Our mission is to create a warm, loving, secure environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, self-confidence and independence so that students may become models of peace and can succeed in an evolving world. We are committed to maintaining an environment that stimulates challenges and creates a curiosity about learning, while engendering a love, respect and understanding of self and others.
The Child Unique Montessori School partnered with the Montessori Elementary School of Alameda (MESA) and is dedicated to providing students with a learning experience that will form a foundation for their development as complete human beings. Our vision is that this foundation will open a world of positive social, emotional and educational opportunities to every student. We see an environment that will foster each student s unique strengths, guiding them thought those areas where they are challenged, and encouraging understanding and tolerance in their world. We believe that this is education for peace. Best of winner for the 3rd year in a row, we maintain a commitment to diversity and welcomes families of all types.

The Renaissance International School

3650 Dimond Avenue, Oakland, CA

Starting at $1933/mo

The Renaissance International School is an independent, Montessori school in Oakland for children from the age of 2 years old through Middle School.

Our program includes art, music and French and Spanish language immersion. Students become fluent in English, French and Spanish. The school was founded in 1992 by Leslie, who continues to serve as Head of School.

We provide a high-quality education designed to help children become compassionate, capable, confident, creative individuals who are prepared for life. They succeed in high school, college and beyond.

Central to the school's philosophy is the goal of providing children with an international center of learning and culture that is open, supportive and multidisciplinary, where they develop and achieve their highest potential.

Our course of study has an integrated, thematic approach that is a strong element of Montessori. It ties the separate disciplines of the curriculum together into studies of the physical universe, the world of nature, and the human experience. While encompassing the full substance of the traditional curriculum, it goes beyond to teach students how to think clearly, conduct their own research, express themselves well in writing and speech and put their knowledge to a practical application.

Students in the toddler and preschool years begin learning a second language. They are taught in English and Spanish or English and French. At the Elementary level, students add a third language, bringing to bear a tri-lingual immersion program.

We offer a warm, supportive environment. We set a high standard of achievement for the quality of thought, work and mastery of content and skills. Our goal is to produce students with notable leadership and achievements.
