We are looking for an awesome caregiver to help with our teenage autistic son L. His school, which is in Bedford, is done at 3:00PM, and we need someone to pick him up, drive him home to Framingham three days a week, and have some fun and learning adventures along the way, including going for walks and hikes, stopping at the store to do a little shopping and develop social and shopping skills, do some reading or homework, prepare snacks and meals together, and maybe do a little cleaning and laundry together.
One day a week, you can come to our gym in West Roxbury, where L can work out with one of our trainers and you can even do your own workout.
Mom will be home and working upstairs when you get home.
Our family likes being active, including walking / hiking, biking, swimming, and exercising in general.
L is a kind and fun-loving 15-year-old autistic boy who gets immense joy being with those who - like him - see life as a wonderful adventure. He loves telling stories together, pretending to be fun characters, playing with his favorite puppets, going for walks and hikes, swinging and talking about his favorite TV show, Friends.
We're looking for someone who has some experience working with people with special needs. What's most important, though, is having a fun adventurous nature, patience and empathy, and the respect and maturity to see L as an incredibly capable person who simply needs a little more time, creativity and support in order to do things in life. We're also looking for someone who is active and ready to keep things moving!
We live in Framingham, not too far from Rt. 9 and are easy to find. We have plenty of parking space.
Our family includes Rory, a sweet yellow lab who is L's service dog. She's a little older now, so she's mostly our family pet and the love of L's life.
