About who needs care: - Recovering from stroke, small amount of short-term memory loss.
- My dad needs help organizing his medication, organizing his planner (with appointments), going on walks, companionship, some games to help improve memory, and someone to fix him lunch.
- He really likes sports of all kinds. He is a veteran (Navy) and enjoys recounting old stories. Very friendly.
- Ideally, a caregiver would come from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Check medication (see if he needs any refills), go over planner with appointments, go on walk. Then fix and eat lunch together. Do a few simple balancing exercises and games to help improve memory.
About the care needs: We are looking for someone who is kind and patient. My dad was an engineer, and enjoys talking about the world, sports and current events. He can do many things by himself (at a slow pace) but needs more engagement and exercise. He needs someone organized that will give him a 'gentle push' to make sure he does everything that the doctors tell him to do.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
