We are in search of an experienced and compassionate full-time, live-in home health aide and caregiver who understands the importance of meeting the needs of clients with Dementia/Alzheimer s while helping them maintain a high quality of life. We are looking for a cheerful, receptive and committed individual who is friendly with excellent communication skills and is able to problem solve on the spot. We are looking for a caregiver who is able to follow instructions, able to perform a variety of tasks and has a reputation for being respectful, professional and compassionate as they administer care to a client with Dementia. We are seeking someone who would be a great fit with our family. Our caregiver should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help the client suffering from Dementia and provide support to the client s immediate family members. Job Responsibilities: Primary responsibility is caring for elderly patient with Dementia by performing the following duties: Monitor patient condition by observing physical and mental state, intake and output, and exercise. Support patient by providing light housekeeping (e.g. making beds, changing linens, washing dishes, dusting, vacuuming, taking out garbage) and laundry and ironing services; shopping for food and other basic household requirements; picking up prescriptions and running errands. Ensure appropriate nutrition by preparing and serving meals and snacks. Help patient care for themselves by assisting or directly providing personal services, such as, toiletry assistance and grooming (e.g., shampooing hair, washing body, finger and toe nail care, moisturizing, dental care, hair brushing and styling and general hygiene), dressing and eating. Assist patient with appropriate ways to get in and out of bed and chairs/sofas, lift, turn, walk and ascend/descend stairs. Monitor health by following a care plan and noting any changes in the patient s health, recording and reporting any differences in patient information by making entries in the patient journal and notifying family members of changing or unusual conditions. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient environment by (i) adhering to and following professional standards as well as home care standards, policies and procedures as established and revised from time to time, (ii) maintaining security precautions and (iii) following prescribed dietary requirements and nutrition standards. Oversee medication and prescription usage and ensure all medications are taken at the correct time. Set appointment reminders and ensure patient attends doctor appointments and other activities. Provide companionship, supervision and emotional support to patient by being a stable companion and supporter in all matters personal, health-related and emotional as well as orienting or grounding patient from time to time. Drive patient to and from activities and errands; assist patient with getting in and out of vehicle. Assist patient with walking and light physical exercise. Engage in mental exercises with patient (games, memory books, art, etc.). Travel with patient to destinations and vacations and provide continued support. Update job knowledge by identifying and participating in continuing educational opportunities approved by family members of patient. Enhance service reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests from patient s family members; explore and suggest opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Skills and Qualifications: Skills: Experience and knowledge working with Dementia/Alzheimer s patient Extensive experience working with the elderly Ability to problem solve quickly Impeccable written and oral communication skills Attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills, sensitive, caring, respectful and compassionate Physical endurance and stamina Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints Strong ethics Qualifications: High school diploma required (associates and/or college degree preferred) Certified Nursing Aide, Home Health Aide, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse certifications required Current and valid caregiver certification Current and valid first aid and CPR certification
