I have been a student to singing, and performing for 20+ years. My music influences are pretty eclectic, and I don’t dislike any genre, but prefer music that I can dance to with some groovy beats, a good drum or bass, some thing with soul. In my teaching, my style is to meet my students where they’re at, have fun in our process together, try things, connect with what the music conveys, expand the confidence of my students and offer a lot of positive feedback. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to approach different genres of music. How do you connect with the lyrics and the storytelling of this song, how to gain confidence in using your voice in different ways, and presence while performing the song. I like to tell my students to come to my lessons prepared to let go, try things and being open to constructive feedback in order to make necessary adjustments and try it again. I enjoy working with students who are interested in doing the right things in order to progress in their art. My students love that I am honest, fun and kind in my lessons and in my feedback. I primarily teach vocal lessons where we practice, warm-ups how to use the voice, how to change the voice during a song to add characterization or tone depending on voice type, how to take care of the voice, and how to help with storytelling throughout the piece. This would also include movement, as singing is more than just something that happens with our voice and lungs, It’s a full body experience and it requires the whole body to be engaged during practice. I also teach musical theater, dance and I’m an acting coach as well. My approach as a teacher is to give my students a chance to improve their existing skills and to feel confident in their skills and ability to perform those skills in a healthy way. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
