My dad taught me the ukulele at age 3 and I transferred my skills to guitar when my hands got big enough around age 10. I started teaching when I was in high school and have taught off and on over the years. I've taught through Community Ed programs, in retail establishments, and under my own steam individually. My first love is acoustic finger-style with heroes being Doyle Dykes, Tommy Emmanuel, and Russ Freeman of the Rippingtons is no slouch, either. I played professionally in the mid-to-late 70s, and have always led a band, which I do today in the form of an acoustic-vocal trio. I'm retired and in control of my schedule, and will rarely have scheduling conflicts for my guitar students. Formal Education: BA in Communications-UNT Half of an MBA-U of Dallas Performing Experience: Since age 13, I've never not been in (mostly led) a band. Played professionally for about 3 years in the late '70s. Experience Teaching: Miscellaneous private lessons on my own; Group lessons through Community Ed organizations in Austin and Weatherford; private lessons in a retail studio in Weatherford.
