She has also obtained a teaching degree in Piano Performance as well as a BA in music theory from the Lebanese Higher Conservatory of Music in 2002. She isalso first prize winner of the Do Majeure Lebanesenationalpiano competition in 2000.She has taught piano for more than twenty years at the Holy Spirit University in Lebanon. Roula is fluent in French, Arabic and English. Private Education: Roula started taking private lessons in piano since she was seven years old. At the age of eleven she became a piano student in the Lebanese Higher Conservatory of Music, where she obtained later in teaching degree in piano performance. Performing Experience: Roula has played piano in several venues in Lebanon, including 5 stars hotels such as Phynicia and Jefinor Hotels. She has also performed in different television programs such as Do Majeure, where she was first prize winner of that program. She has regularly performed in the Community Unitarian Universalist Church in New Orleans, where she was the Music Director for two years. Experience Teaching: Roula has an extensive experience in piano teaching. She has given private lessons for more than 20 continuous years. She was also a piano instructor at the University of the Holy Spirit in Lebanon as well as at the University of New Orleans in the US. She can teach all ages and all levels. Her area of concentration is classical music, but she can easily teach beginner students in Jazz and Blues.

Rafael has performed across the nation, as a freelance woodwind musician, with RB artist Sean Fresh. Along with Sean Fresh, he has performed with artists Big Piph, Dazz Brie, Kwestion, Bijioux, The Big Dam Horns, Nick Broadway, Off the Cuff Ensemble, Queen Anne’s Revenge, and The Hot Springs Village Pit Orchestra. Rafael’s accomplishments include performances at the NASA Region IV Conference, CMS South Central Conference, SCI Conference, and Mana Saxophone Institute. Along with these conference performances, he has performed with the Sherman Symphony, Little Rock Wind Symphony, CBDNA Intercollegiate Band, AIB Intercollegiate Band, and Stardust Big Band. He also won the 2015 State MTNA Young Artist Competition and 2014 President’s Concert at Henderson State University. Outside of performing, Rafael has taught woodwinds since 2010. I have been a student of music for 35 years. My musical influences include movie composers such as Danny Elfman and John Williams, and Jazz composers and musicians such as Count Basie and Frank Rosolino to name a few. I also enjoy playing golf. My teaching style can best be described as psychological and empathetic. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I teach students technique and then how to use that technique to manipulate the emotions of the listener. In my lessons, you can expect to learn proficiency and the effect of the human emotion through music. I like to tell my students practice doesn't make perfect....perfect practice makes perfect. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students succeed in auditions and having the parents thank me when my students are happy being in top bands. My favorite performance was Santa Clara Vanguard when they won DCI championship with Phantom of the Opera in 1989 or 1990. My students love that I am more patient than i should be and when i give them visualizations of the music they are playing. I primarily teach trombone, but I can also teach Baritone, and Trumpet.
