I have been a student of music for 26 years. My musical influences span all genres including pop, rock, RnB, funk, classical, folk, gospel, jazz, hip-hop, latin, and more. My teaching style can best be described as fun and methodical. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe anyone can learn to play music in a fun approach as long as they have the desire to learn. In my lessons, you can expect to learn music fundamentals from beginner to advanced concepts including music theory, song writing, improvisation, rhythm and lead playing, music recording/engineering/producing, and performance. I like to tell my students that they can learn to play with confidence and learn a basic melodic version of their favorite songs within a few lessons. My favorite thing about teaching is the joy it brings my students to be able to express themselves through music. I have had the opportunity to learn from multiple Grammy nominated/winning recording artists. I primarily teach guitar and bass lessons, but I can also teach ukelele, basic keyboard/piano, and percussion. My approach as a teacher is to make every lessons enjoyable and simple. Formal Education: I did not complete my bachelors as I pursued music and other creative careers, however, I dual-majored in Communication Studies (Interpersonal Communication) and Music, setting me up with great skills to accompany my long standing music teaching experience. Private Education: I have studied music under educators with Berklee school of music and Musicians Institute. I have also had lessons and performances with four separate Grammy nominated/winning artists and producers including Mark Vollelunga and Johnny Hawkins (of the band Nothing More), The Thrasher Brothers, Pascal Guyon, and SuperStarO. I have had studio recording experience in Los Angeles, California and San Antonio, Texas, as well as home studio projects with various producers nationally and internationally. Performing Experience: I have performed over 700 concerts/shows, from small private parties to larger venues playing alongside international touring artists. I have had the experience of performing with international recording artists and performers including Grammy nominated/winning musicians. Experience Teaching: I have over 2,000 hours of teaching experience with students in age from 4-95 years old. I ensure that every lesson will be filled with as much information as you would like to take on as a student, while having fun and learning in relation to your favorite genre or musical artists!
