I started learning the guitar at age 9. I took one lesson, and then from there, I taught myself how to play by listening to recordings and figuring out the chords. I possess a very good amount of music theory experience. I can read music, and understand the circle of fifths, rhythm structure and patterns, modulation and transposing from one chord structure to another, harmonics, and time signature and time structure. IE: "keeping the beat". I am also a published songwriter, and a member of Crucial Music, and ASCAP, Inc. My style of teaching is to teach my students what they want to learn, and not necessarily what I "think" they want to learn. I teach rock n roll, metal, blues, country, folk, hip hop, and just about any other form of music, except classical. My philosophy of teaching is simple. It takes work to learn, but once you learn, it becomes fun. That's why its called "playing music" and not "working music". Thank you for your time.
